About

We are a local, family-owned book publishing company in Tucson, Arizona; formed in January ’23 by a Brazilian poet and an American librarian. We focus on creating our own stories and also promoting the artistic vision of fellow storytellers.

What types of books will you be publishing?

Children’s books! We are working on telling locally-specific stories about Brazil, both in English and in Portuguese, with an authenticity and cultural panorama we believe are lacking in the current literary scenario.

Who is Raincake Books LLC?

We’re Davida and Mario. Davida is a Children’s Librarian in Tucson and Mario writes poetry and delves into other art forms as well.

Davida is from Valdez, Alaska. Mario is from Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Davida has a Master’s in Library Science and a Bachelor’s in Journalism from the University of Arizona.

Mario obtained a Master’s in English from ASU and a Bachelor’s in English and Creative Writing with the University of Iowa. He also holds a Certificate in Cinematography from UCLA Extension.
